“In front of all of them?” Janine asked, surprised. It was Friday, and she was currently at the bar with her work family. Janine and Ava had gone to the bar to get drinks, but halfway a song Ava liked started playing, so Ava had held Janine’s hand and asked her to dance with her. Which brought up Janine’s shocked question.
“They won’t think anything about it.” Ava said as if it was nothing. They had been together for about three months. They had agreed to not let people at work know, and Janine was really trying her best to keep it from Jacob, specially. Ava knew that Janine was keeping it a secret for her. She knew Janine didn’t care if people knew about them. And if she was honest, while she didn’t want the entire school to know, Ava actually wanted their group - Melissa, Barbara, Jacob and even Gregory - to know about them. It was the weirdest feeling for her, to want people to know Janine was with her. But Ava would never admit it to anyone.
“I don’t think they’ll care.” Ava said, softly. It was implied that Ava didn’t care that they would know. Janine didn’t need to be told twice. Janine smiled, pushing Ava to the dance floor with her. They didn’t notice, but when they kissed on the dance floor, their friends on the table celebrated. Especially because Jacob had just lost the bet and was paying for everyone’s drink.
